ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Tropical Cocktails”
This loose & vibrant abstract academic still life painting features cocktails in glassware accompanied with nuanced paint application & fragmented mirrors. The artist paints an image of the multiple Swedish bottles as chooses his own rendition on still life as this painting as the birds were chirping with the sunrise in La Jolla California on La Jolla Blvd. This particular painting came as an outlet and was a breakthrough as the artist decided to break all the mirrors in his home & put them in the paintings. Summer 2020 La Jolla studio was extreme to say the least, however paintings like “Tropical Cocktails” which holds a pleasant tone is one of about one hundred paintings produced in about a four-month period. “Tropical Cocktails” is one of the paintings in the 2020 La Jolla Collection which contains fragmented mirrors & applied paintbrushes in the image.
