“Still Life in Red”
ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Still Life in Red”
This playful abstract still life painting featuring glassware & bottles standing on a table is a loose painterly mix media rendition of a traditional still life. The artist chooses his own loose emotional expressionist version of subject matter form & is one of the artists personal favorites from the 2020 La Jolla Collection. Alexander Paige finds himself painting as the birds were chirping with the sunrise in La Jolla California on La Jolla Blvd. This particular painting came as an outlet and was a breakthrough as the artist decided to break all the mirrors in his home & put them in the paintings. Summer 2020 La Jolla studio was extreme to say the least, however paintings like “Still Life in Red” is one of about one hundred paintings produced in about a four-month period. “Still Life in Red” is one of the first paintings by Alexander Paige which contains and features fragmented mirrors. This painting is especially heavy & is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
