ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2001 Painting on Canvas “Portrait Two Eyes”

This early portrait painting by Alexander Paige was produced at Atelier Art School in 2007 under the teaching of Jeffrey Watts & Andrew Burwood Hoy.  This particular painting depicts a man David Bowie inspired with two different color eyes.  This portrait painting is a practice in academic art as Alexander Paige takes the painting home from “Art School” & splashes it with viscous acrylic house paint to put his own signature on the finished painting.  Artist Alexander Paige tells the story of “academic painting” & the concept of “unique individuality” symbolized in the two different eyes as well as a rebellious attitude to academic painting by splashing the finished painting with acrylic paint.
