“Marilyn Red”
ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2001 Portrait Transfer “Marilyn Red”
This portrait transfer from 2001 is of the first playboy model & adored superstar icon, Marilyn Monroe. The image is transferred to canvas through matte medium applied with an oil glaze & splashed with acrylic points against a flat acrylic red background. This series of paintings, & this painting in particular were small & produced after looking at paintings from Andy Warhola as an exercise in painting. This painting is currently held by the family of Alexander Paige. “Marilyn Red” is the beginning of Marilyn Monroe as an iconic image & theme in Alexander Paige’s artwork into 2020 & beyond.
