ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Marilyn with Cigarette II”

Part two of a two painting series of an expressive abstract academic portrait transfer painting of Marilyn Monroe is mixed media as Alexander Paige dipped an actual cigarette on the canvas painting and applied it.  “Marilyn with Cigarette I” once again has a coldness and empty darkness to it which is indicative of the artists emotions in the summer of 2020 at the time of production.  The artist articulates his own struggle similar to iconic start, Marilyn Monroe… showing that life can change & there are forms and perspective which can change our world & reality. Alexander Paige isolated himself in the summer of 2020 in the infamous La Jolla Studio dealing with his own inner turmoil.  “Iconic Marilyn” emerged as one of the gems of the collection & is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
