This expressive abstract academic portrait transfer of Dave Matthews playing guitar splashed with acrylic house paint, paint pen & large, fragmented mirrors “Dave Matthews Roman Legion” is a revival of an old style of portrait transfer inspired by Andy Warhola. This painting earned its title as the artist applied the mirrors to the head of Dave Matthews & a friend of Alexander Paige said, “he looks like a Roman warrior.” This painting is produced on a large cardboard poster of the musician Dave Matthews, seen playing the guitar. This particular painting is derived as part of the 2020 La Jolla studio “Barbarian” series. Alexander Paige isolated himself in the summer of 2020 in the infamous La Jolla Studio dealing with his own inner turmoil. “Frank Sinatra & Marilyn Monroe” emerged as one of the gems of the collection & is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
