ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Cruel World”

This unique abstract academic portrait transfer painting of Frank Ocean holding his face hiding from the dark maleficent coldness of society was produced with a poster image, acrylic house paint & oil paint as well as a piece of painted glass on top of a previously existing painting.  This painting was produced to show the disgust and divide of humanity in America during the time of racism featured in the media specifically between white police officers & a free black man.  “Cruel World” is a revival of an old style of portrait transfer inspired by Andy Warhola & in the summer of 2020 is one of the first paintings to contain fragments of broken mirrors by Alexander Paige.  This painting is produced on a canvas.   Alexander Paige identifies the medias choice to divide our nation of culture & people & shows how the “fear” & “hate” & “hurt” which is something the American media features in an overwhelming attempt to divide people is not how the artist Alexander Paige chooses to live as he does not look at race or color.  The artist Alexander Paige in this image as the artist isolated himself in the summer of 2020 in the infamous La Jolla Studio dealing with his own inner turmoil.  “Cruel World” emerged as one of the gems of the collection & is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
