ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Barbarian Queen”

This expressive abstract academic portrait transfer painting of Marilyn Monroe as a “Barbarian Queen” is full of dark overtones as this painting was produced with poster image of the famous first playboy model and iconic American goddess Marilyn Monroe, acrylic house paint, oil paint & yellow painted glass.  This painting literally shows the effects & influence of outside substances. “Barbarian Queen Glory” is a revival of an old style of portrait transfer inspired by Andy Warhola & in the summer of 2020. This painting is produced on a canvas & was painted over a previously existing image the artist acquired.   This painting contains the image of Marilyn Monroe as the “Barbarian Queen” in a position of empowerment & decadence… adding to the concept of perspective & empowerment which can change at any moment in our world & reality. Alexander Paige isolated himself in the summer of 2020 in the infamous La Jolla Studio dealing with his own inner turmoil.  “Barbarian Queen” emerged as one of the gems of the collection & is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
