“Frank & Frank”
ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Frank & Frank”
This unique abstract academic portrait transfer painting was produced with poster images of two American Icon’s Frank Sinatra. “Frank & Frank” is a revival of an old style of portrait transfer inspired by Andy Warhola & in the summer of 2020 is one of the first paintings to contain fragments of broken mirrors by Alexander Paige. This painting is produced on canvas & is a tribute to the artist favorite movie “Wall Street” directed by Oliver Stone which features “Fly me to the Mood”. More importantly Alexander Paige salutes Frank Sinatra as he often sings about getting back up from adversity and overcoming obstacles. This painting although a pop expressive tribute to Frank Sinatra is in other ways a self-portrait of the artist himself. contains fragmented painted glass & broken mirrors. Alexander Paige isolated himself in the summer of 2020 in the infamous La Jolla Studio dealing with his own inner turmoil. “Frank & Frank” emerged as one of the gems of the collection & property of a private collector in Southern California.
