ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Bowie in Mirrors”
This abstract academic portrait transfer painting of a Peter Gabriel record was produced with acrylic house paint, pastels & pieces of Peter Gabriel record card holder on metal. This particular painting takes on an aspect of “Life is shattered” dealing with the turmoil of the passing of two friends in a quick time, the artist finds himself & produces Time Magazine as an indirect self portrait of his own shattered self. This abstract painting of Peter Gabriel titled “Bowie in Mirrors” ironically is not of David Bowie & there is no mirrors. The image does however contain fragmented pieces of a record jacket. Alexander Paige isolated himself in the summer of 2020 in the infamous La Jolla Studio dealing with his own inner turmoil. “Bowie in Mirrors” emerged as one of the gems of the collection & is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
