ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2001 Painting on Canvas “Abe Lincoln Abstract”

This early painting by Alexander Paige is a depiction of former President Abraham Lincoln in a “Southern California” rendition.   This particular painting was drawn with viscous acrylic house paint touched with an oil glaze of copal painting medium & linseed doil. Alexander Paige presents the “Southern Californian Abe Lincoln,” in a simple & stoic manor.  The expressive quality of the paint itself is the artist exploring his own voice in production & trying to control a medium which has movement & variables.  This early painting shows how “mistakes” & “imperfections” can add value.
