“Shapes & Sculptures”
ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2008 Black & White Ink Drawing “Shapes & Sculptures”
This pen & ink drawing of a woman & a man together as a couple is a common theme from artist Alexander Paige. The artist incudes a playful sculpturesque large candle stick. This drawing was produced in a rehabilitation clinic where a fellow patient / “client” of the rehab named Mario Flores, drew faces on the image which infuriated and upset Alexander Paige. The faces were then scratched out as drawing faces is not something the artist wants to portray or feels willing to portray. The reason the artist does not paint or draw the face is to leave the form to the imagination and open to interpretation in a “less is more” conceptual articulation of the form. The linear quality depicts movement & image & the proportion to the space is impeccably simple. Alexander Paige the eventuates the quality & form presented clean & expressive, simple yet sophisticated.
