“Table of Colour”
ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2020 La Jolla Studio “Table of Colour”
This abstract expressive painting was produced with the most extreme range of color & is one of the first paintings to contain fragments of broken mirrors by Alexander Paige. The vibrant layers of house paint & loose almost careless approach to the painting is a testament to and dedication to expression through the application of paint onto canvas. The artist has very little recollection of producing “Table of Colour” as this painting was one of twelve paintings going at any given time during a summer where the artist was going through a myriad of emotions. “Table of Colour” as well as the paintings in the 2020 La Jolla collection are testament to painting being a strategy for recovery & working toward something in life, when it seems everything in your life is broken or decided to leave you. Alexander Paige isolated himself in the summer of 2020 in the infamous La Jolla Studio dealing with his own inner turmoil. “Table of Colour” emerged as one of the gems of the collection & is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
