ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2001.2006.2001 & 2020 La Jolla Studio Self-Portrait – “Alexander Paige”

This abstract academic self-portrait painting is the crown jewel of the Alexander Paige painting collection.  This painting is not for sale.  This particular painting was originally produced in the summer sun the day the artist woke up to the news of his best friend passing away.   This colorful rending is produced with a vibrant abstract quality with multiple layers of acrylic house paint, oil paint, pastel a broken record & spray paint were added in the infamous La Jolla Studio of 2020.  This dark & ominous depiction of the artist tells the tale of vibrance overshadowed by the coldness of a monetary driven society with a complete & absolute undertone of greed.  Inspired by the tyrannical character “Gordon Gekko” in Oliver Stone’s 1985 Wall Street.  Gekko was intended to depict real life 1980’s corporate raider Ivan Boesky who allegedly resides in the La Jolla Southern California area.  This painting & it’s 12-16 layers over a twenty-year period tell the story of Alexander Paige’s commitment to excellence in painting production & the image itself depicts pure passion & unmeasurable strength it requires to persevere through many of life’s challenges.  Alexander Paige self-titled “Alexander Paige” is in the possession of the artist in Southern California.
