ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2001 Painting on Canvas “Pure Blonde Martini”

This is the first painting from Alexander Pagie which portrays his iconic celebration of the female figure & form depicted without a face.  Inspired by Billy Idol’s “Eyes without a Face” this painting marks the inception of a concept of leaving the face “undescribed.”   Similar to Jean Michelle Basquiat crossing out letters to create emphasis, Alexander Paige leaves the facial details to the viewers perception.  This painting was executed with India Ink & Acrylic House Paint.  A thin oil glaze in copal painting medium brings a modest color variance to the primarily “whitened” image.  This painting is the beginning of the consistent subject matter of women depicted tastefully “sexualized” often times holding a martini glass or in the vicinity of bottles of alcohol.  Alexander Paige renders this painting from life experience.
