ALEXANDER PAIGE – 2001 Painting on Watercolor Paper “911”
This particular painting was executed by Alexander Paige a day or two after the World Trade towers were hit in September of 2001. This painting was produced with an India Ink and acrylic on durable waterwork paper. This particular painting tells the story of the towers falling with the businessman in the middle of the image depicted in tears. This particular painting was ripped to pieces twenty years later by Romanian girlfriend Amalia Vasii in an emotionally charged argument referenced in the artists narrative autobiographical memoir “Moments & Experiences,” specifically the chapter titled: “Amalia Vasii.” This painting was an exercise in expressive painting with india ink falling from the top of the image to the bottom further symbolizing the falling of the trade towers in “911.”
